Mineral wool is today one of the most performing insulating materials and greatly contributes to save energy and cost of heating.
Volcanic stones are melted with some additives, then extruded and spun to stone wool. The minerals contain some sulfur emitted as sulfur oxides (SOx).

Treating SOx in a double filtration step with sodium bicarbonate solution allows the compliance with the most stringent emission limit value (ELV) and at the same time minimizes the residual production.
