Micropollutants

Micropollutants (Dioxins, furans & other PAHs*, POPs*) are often produced during combustion; these products are in most cases toxic or harmful for the health of human or animal life or can contaminate agricultural products. Controlling their emission is a fundamental step to avoid their bioavailability (absorption by a living organism).

* PAHs = Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons
* POPs = Persistant Organic Compounds

The SOLVAir® Solution

Ground sodium bicarbonate is an effective sorbent. In order to meet the most stringent dioxins and furans emission limit in waste incineration (typically 0.1 ng TE/Nm³), the only thing required is to inject activated carbon (or lignite coke) together with the sodium bicarbonate. This adsorbent is then separated from the flue gas in the bag filter, which also captures the Residual Sodium Chemicals; the observed emission values can be much lower than the limits mentioned above.

The only necessary equipment for removing dioxins is a system for storing, dosing and injecting the adsorbent.

By doing so other micro-pollutants (PAHs, POPs, etc. ) will also be removed.

Additionally, micro-pollutants will be destroyed by a tail end catalyst device used for NOX control,

Regulatory : European Directive 2010/75/EU (Attachment 6 - Chapter 4)

The SOLVAir® team will help you to develop economical and sustainable environmental solutions for your air emissions control and associated valorization issues.
