Particulate matter and acid droplets like SO3 can enter in the lungs and can greatly impact health. Using the SOLVAir® bicarbonate solution, acid droplets are easily removed and the filtration step with the bag filter reduces the particulate emission at levels near to zero.
Particulate Matter (PM) refers to fine particles and aerosols to liquid droplets small enough to become airborne. This includes fly ash and droplets of SO3 created by industrial combustion processes.
The European Commission regulates the inhalable fraction of PM pollution (Directive 2008/50/EC) because of its ability to enter in the lungs and its potential to greatly impact health.
The SOLVAir® Solution
At some locations, Electrostatic Precipitators (ESP) are the pollution control technology of choice used to reduce fly ash emissions. In many cases, the use of sodium sorbents injected before the ESP improves the performance of Electrostatic Precipitators (ESP), thereby reducing PM emissions.
When used as a dry sorbent injected into an exhaust duct, before a bag filter, BICAR® will react with acid gases. In combination with high performance filter media, PM emission lower than 1 mg/Nm3 can be reached.
At some locations, Electrostatic Precipitators (ESP) are the pollution control technology used to reduce fly ash emissions.
In waste inceneration, by using two successive de-dusting steps in waste incineration, injecting the BICAR after the ESP, the residues are collected separately which enhances further recycling.
