HCL (Hydrochloric Acid)
Sodium bicarbonate BICAR® is very reactive with HCl and allows mitigating HCl to a very low level (below 5 mg/Nm3) in order to respect even the most severe regulations. |
| |
|
 |
SOx (Sulfur Oxides)
According to the flue gas treatment, required mitigation rate (> 95%) and the size of the plant SOLVAir® bicarbonate process can be used to mitigate SO2 and SO3 . |
| |
|
 |
HF (Fluorhydric Acid)
In production of tiles, the SOLVAir® bicarbonate process enables users to respect local regulations and to cut treatment costs. |

Heavy Metals
Heavy metals released by the combustion process as particulate matter or gaseous form can accumulate in the food chain, in the human and animal tissues.
Using the SOLVAir® solution, these pollutants are easily controlled by adding to the sodium bicarbonate BICAR® an adsorbent like activated coal or lignite coke. |

Particulates
Particulate matter and acid droplets like SO3 can enter in the lungs and can greatly impact health. Using the SOLVAir® bicarbonate solution, acid droplets are easily removed and the filtration step with the bag filter reduces the particulate emission at levels near to zero. |

Micropollutants
Micropollutants (Dioxins, furans & other PAHs*, POPs*) are often produced during combustion; these products are in most cases toxic or harmful for the health of human or animal life or can contaminate agricultural products. Controlling their emission is a fundamental step to avoid their bioavailability (absorption by a living organism).
* PAHs = Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons
* POPs = Persistant Organic Compounds |

NOx (Nitrogen Oxides)
Nitrogen oxides are between the most widely spread pollutants; the most effective technique to mitigate them is the selective catalytic reduction (SCR). Using the SOLVAir® bicarbonate solution allows to avoid the re-heating of flue gases, leading to a great saving in energy consumption, CO2 emission and cost. |

Residuals
The SOLVAir® RSC* Recycling Solution reduces the amount of residues to be
landfilled by a factor of 10 or more by extracting a salt solution and replacing
virgin raw materials of chemical processes. |
