Efficient SOx cleaning
Carbon-based products are high-tech materials used in a fast growing range of applications as electrodes, automotive, nuclear power station components, environmental protection, etc. The SOLVAir® bicarbonate solution is the safest and cheapest way to mitigate the SOx emissions and protect the delicate parts of the producing plant.
Graphite, cokes, carbon black and carbon fibers are produced, by heating-up raw materials containing carbon like: coal, coke, tars and heavy oil fractions slowly and in reducing conditions (to avoid combustion). The resulting flue gases need to be treated by oxidation (thermal, catalytic or both) to avoid releasing of harmful substances like Carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and VOC. In order to protect the equipment, a filtration device is generally required. After oxidation, the gases contain a quite high amount of sulfur oxides which have to be mitigated.
The thermal regeneration of activated carbon produces SOx during processing which are controlled using SOLVAir® solutions.
The SOLVAir® Solution: dry sorbent injection of sodium bicarbonate for flue gas cleaning
Through a dry injection in the flue gas stream, the sodium bicarbonate BICAR® mitigates SO2 and SO3. Dry sorbent injection is a low capital cost option that meets treatment needs, and equipment can be installed quickly for trials or permanent installations.
