In production of tiles, expanded clay and bricks, where large numbers of small units need simple and effective air emission control systems, the SOLVAir® bicarbonate process enables users to respect local regulations and to cut treatment costs.
In tile manufacturing (terracotta tiles, bricks and floor tiles) the combustion gas purification system needs to take into account:
- The type of fuel used. For example, heavy fuel oil produces large quantities of sulfur dioxide (SO2)
- The type of raw materials used. There are several types of clay: red clay, white clay with a high carbonate content, clay containing marine sediments, sulfur compounds and in some cases, feldspar containing fluorides.
The main acid pollutants are therefore: sulfur dioxide (SO2), hydrochloric acid (HCl) and hydrofluoric acid (HF).
