During ECOMONDO, the international green economy exhibition, the SOLVAL® plant of Rosignano received a ‘special mention’ among the best Italian projects – in the framework of the Sustainable Development Award – for adopting best practices in circular economy.
The Award aims at promoting the companies that reach outstanding results as far as environment, innovation and diffusion are concerned, as well as positive financial and occupational results, by adopting the best techniques and practices.
SOLVAL®,a 100% Solvay’s subsidiary, valorizes Residual Sodium Chemicals downstream from flue gas treatments based on our SOLVAir® Solutions, developed by Solvay to reduce industrial air emissions through the injection of sodium based reagents.
The soluble part of these residues (sodium salts) is recovered in the form of a concentrated, depurated brine, which is reused by Solvay as raw material in its production of soda ash in the Rosignano plant. Converting waste into new raw material allows saving natural resources while drastically cutting the amount of waste to be dumped.
